چکیده

Two different detectors and techniques are employed at n TOF facility, at CERN, to improve the accuracy of the neutron capture cross section of 197Au(n,γ): a total absorption calorimeter and a set of C6D6. The accurate knowledge of this cross section is of great importance for all the (n,γ) reactions study. The neutron capture cross section and nuclear resonce parameters of the 197Au have been measured in the energy range of 1 eV to 1 kev. The present work shows in average a good agreement with evaluated data libraries, although sizeable differences have been observed for some resonances. Two new resonances have also been discovered. The accuracy of the resonance partial widths has been improved and the main nuclear quantities such as the neutron strength function have been

Integral measurement of the 12 C ( n , p ) 12 B reaction up to 10 GeV

The integral measurement of the C(n,p)B reaction was performed at the neutron time of flight facility n TOF at CERN. The total number of B nuclei produced per neutron pulse of the n TOF beam was determined using the activation technique in combination with a time of flight technique. The cross section is integrated over the n TOF neutron energy spectrum from reaction threshold at 13.6 MeV to 10...

Measurement of neutron induced fission of 235U, 233U and 245Cm with the FIC detector at the CERN n TOF facility

A series of measurements of neutron induced fission cross section of various TRU isotopes have been performed at the CERN n TOF spallation neutron facility, in the energy range from thermal to nearly 250MeV. The experimental apparatus consists in a fast ionization chamber (FIC), used as a fission fragment detector with a high efficiency. Good discrimination between alphas and fission fragments ...

Neutron - induced fission cross - section of 233 U in the energy range 0 . 5 < En < 20 MeV The n TOF

The neutron-induced fission cross-section of U has been measured at the CERN n TOF facility relative to the standard fission cross-section of U between 0.5 and 20MeV. The experiment was performed with a fast ionization chamber for the detection of the fission fragments and to discriminate against α-particles from the natural radioactivity of the samples. The high instantaneous flux and the low ...

THE EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL A Measurement of the neutron-induced fission cross-section of Am at the time-of-flight facility n TOF

The neutron-induced fission cross-section of Am has been measured relative to the standard fission cross-section of U between 0.5 and 20MeV. The experiment was performed at the CERN n TOF facility. Fission fragments were detected by a fast ionization chamber by discriminating against the αparticles from the high radioactivity of the samples. The high instantaneous neutron flux and the low backg...

Cross-section measurements of the 86Kr(γ,n) reaction to probe the s-process branching at 85Kr.

We have carried out photodisintegration cross-section measurements on 86Kr using monoenergetic photon beams ranging from the neutron separation energy, S(n) = 9.86  MeV, to 13 MeV. We combine our experimental 86Kr(γ,n)85Kr cross section with results from our recent 86Kr(γ,γ') measurement below the neutron separation energy to obtain the complete nuclear dipole response of 86Kr. The new experime...
